    Fiery Morning

Took this one almost 12 years ago from the Black Cat Island bridge on Lake Winnipesaukee. Shot with a Canon 10D. Just goes to show that the camera is more or less just a film holder (or sensor now). No matter how good the gear is, you still need the right light and composition.

"Sully" - Dogs give freely of themselves to the people who give them a home and companionship. It's a friendship in the purest sense of the word, without any ulterior motives. If you've never experienced the human-canine bond, you are missing something truly wonderful. We miss you buddy.

    Favorite Place

Relaxation (noun) - the state of being free from tension or anxiety. When I think of the word, this is the image I see in my head. Another view from Mike's (instagram @thesilentforest) dock on Black Cat Island. Truly one of my favorite places!

    Firestorm

Incredible light show over Lake Quannapowitt following a pretty intense line of storms that moved through the Boston area this evening. Unfortunately, I missed the double rainbow, but was able to capture a pretty spectacular sunset :)

I still can't believe that I used to climb here 15+ years ago (might as well be forever haha). The beauty of these mountains is magnetic. I have and always will be drawn back here. This was shot from atop Cathedral Ledge during a light morning rain. The view overlooks the North Conway area.

  • We watched a trio of Osprey make flights to and from their nest for about 20 min. They are very agile, majestic raptors, and can even enter the water to catch prey. Shot along Route 6A in West Barnstable, MA.

    Sandy Neck

I captured this at sunset from Sandy Neck. It is an approx. 4700 acre barrier beach located in Barnstable, MA. This is the result of tone mapping a single HDR image which was created from multiple exposures. More info about Sandy Neck: http://www.town.barnstable.ma.us/sandyneckpark/default.aspx

  • Church

    Church

Everything takes on a different quality at night. Places we pass by everyday that don't even get a second glance all of a sudden change into something else, something that catches our eye. Taking something that is considered ordinary, and turning it into something else, is one of the more interesting challenges in photography. The First Baptist Church in Wakefield is an imposing piece of architecture, with its 180 foot tall spire pointing skyward. The building was constructed approximately 150 years ago.

    Red sky At Night...

Traveling to exotic destinations to find that once in a lifetime shot is great, but there are always fantastic opportunities right in your own backyard! You don't need to be in the Faroe islands (although i'd love to go) to find beauty in nature, it is everywhere, all around us! We all have an intricate knowledge of our home turf, use that to your advantage, and you will come away with some great shots!

    Blue & Orange

Mother nature can run the spectrum from full on brutal to absolutely peaceful. From totally ugly to absolutely stunning. Tonight was the latter on both counts. The adage "F8 and be there, coined by "Arthur “Weegee” Fellig" really does hold true. The camera will do you no good if it sits at home in your bag. You might miss another one of Mother Nature's awesome light shows!

  • Verdant

    Verdant

Don't be afraid to photograph outside of your comfort zone. This will absolutely make you a better photographer by exposing you to subjects and conditions that you are unfamiliar with. This beautiful chair was redone by the Wakefield Garden Club. It was an extremely bright, sunny day. So finding some shade in a rather lush section of a friend's beautifully maintained backyard created a nice contrast for this image.
